Towa Bird faces isolation and identity on latest release “This Isn’t Me”

Towa Bird‘s latest release, “This Isn’t Me,” captures the uneasy distance between receiving a major opportunity and feeling completely alone inside it. Written by Bird and Thomas Powers, who also produced the track, Bird wrote it after returning to Los Angeles from France, where fashion week placed her among celebrities, catwalks, carpets, and paparazzi, yet she felt alone.

That contrast lends the song its emotional weight. Conversations felt inauthentic, while questions carried expectations about who she was and whether she belonged. “Her Song Isn’t Me” puts that loneliness at the centre. The accompanying video, directed by Bird and Luka McGhie, adds another layer to a song that is also rooted in identity and belonging. Together, they point to the gap between appearance and how a person actually feels.
