SAYGRACE steps into a more personal space with “Loyal,” the third single from her upcoming EP The Defining Moments of SAYGRACE: Girlhood, Fuckboys & Situationships. Following Boys Ain’t Shit and Doin’ Too Much, the song continues the project’s candid look at relationships, growing pains and the experiences that shape identity. There is a clear sense of self-possession surrounding the release, matching the singer’s decision to embrace the parts of herself that may not always be easy for others to accept. Rather than smoothing those edges out, Loyal arrives as part of a wider story about becoming comfortable with who you are.

Written by Grace Sewell, Worldwide Fresh, Andre Dre Harris, Darius Ginn Jr and Mike Rio Loving, who also produced the track, the single adds another piece to the EP’s developing picture. The title itself points toward loyalty, but the surrounding project gives that idea a more personal weight. SAYGRACE is presenting girlhood through experiences that can leave someone tougher, more guarded and more certain of what they want. Loyal therefore feels less like a polished character study and more like another honest page from that story.
