Chris Brown walked away from the 2025 BET Awards with two more trophies, adding another chapter to a career that has remained a major force in R&B and pop music.
Chris took home Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and the Viewer’s Choice Award for “Residuals” at the June 9 ceremony. The second win was especially significant because fans determined it, adding another layer of importance to the victory.
Chris extended his record in the category to eight wins when they announced him as the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. Now he has more wins than any other artist, continuing a record that began with his first win in 2008. He previously won in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2020, 2021, and 2023.
This was no light competition. Chris was up against the likes of Drake, Usher, and The Weeknd, and it was another reminder of his staying power. “Residuals” picked up the second win of the night. The song faced off against some of the biggest records of the year, including tracks attached to Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Doechii. When the votes were counted, however, Brown’s song was the winner.
The wins came at a complicated time for the singer, but given the setting of the BET Awards, the message was clear, his audience is still there. Chris didn’t need a long speech or a dramatic moment to make his point. Two trophies spoke volumes.
