Spring 2021 Menswear Found Fashion Reinventing the Runway

Spring 2021 menswear arrived during one of fashion’s strangest periods, but the uncertainty seemed to push designers into unfamiliar territory.

As I looked across the season’s collections, what stood out was the willingness to experiment. Traditional runways were replaced or reimagined through films, animation, virtual presentations, and unusual physical experiences.

Hugo Boss brought artistic energy through its floral work with William Farr, while Marni turned clothing into something closer to painted artwork. Maison Margiela and Thom Browne delivered theatrical moments, while Isabel Marant brought dancers into the visual story.

Raf Simons and Anthony Vaccarello also used film to create something beyond a conventional runway presentation. Loewe went even further with its memorable show-in-a-box concept.

The clothes themselves carried a darker, experimental edge, but there was still optimism underneath it all. Even in a disrupted fashion world, creativity refused to disappear.
