“Blind.” by BIANCA. is a hip-hop song about the decision to be blind in society, about the decision not to see a truth that can feel too real to acknowledge. But instead of pushing that theme too hard, the track has a lighter lyrical flow and a memorable musical approach. The rap has melodic parts that add another dimension to the performance and lend emotional character to some sections.

The line “I see the way that you look at me, I’m not blind” counteracts the song’s message. The production itself backs the argument up, with a fat 808 kick, synth riffs, and panned vocals making for a very upfront, energetic mix. It kicks off with a melodic piano intro that establishes a more emotive mood before the track plunges into its bolder side.

Throughout, the piano is also one of the main melodic instruments, returning at the beginning and end to provide a sense of connection and conclusion. The specific form of “Blind” relies on the contrast between the emotionality of the piano and the more aggressive hip-hop production. BIANCA. uses the track to explore sight and not seeing and the tension between the two.
